Dennis is a senior Staffy cross that lives with his dad Drew Harrisberg in New South Wales, Australia. His dad rescued him from the pound. As soon he was out, they celebrated his freedom by going on an early morning run, a trip to the beach, a quick run at the park, and lots of snacks in between.
Since the day he rescued him, they created a pattern of activities, and it just continued over time, especially the snacks part. He quickly realized how much his new dog loved food. He gave him full meals and tasty treats, but the pup never seemed to get full at all.
Over time, Dennis learned that whether at home or at a restaurant, humans eat first. Once they are done, it’s his turn. He knew that within that split second when their fork and spoon no longer made any sound, the next meal to be prepared will be his.
The smart dog knows when it’s his turn to eat, but he makes sure his dad knows that, too. He takes him to his food bowl and then to the fridge. Once he preps his meal, he yells at him to let him know he’s taking too much time.
It’s adorable to watch Dennis beg for food, but sometimes, it also gets a little embarrassing because he has no social filter. It doesn’t matter if the person who has food is a complete stranger. He will yell at him and ask him to share whatever he is eating with him.
Dennis knows the sound of a brown paper bag, according to his dad. To him, that sound means there’s food around. So anytime they are out in public and he hears that sound, he walks straight to that person and asks for food.
This adorable dog is very vocal, even with strangers. Sometimes, people ask Drew if he finds his dog annoying, and he will always answer no. He loves his personality and he loves how he communicates with him.
It doesn’t matter how noisy or irritating Dennis may seem to other people. He brings so much joy to his dad and his quirks only make him fall in love with him more.
