Pepper is a totally different dog than when she was found. This senior is happy with glossy black fur and a glint of fun in her eye.
Without a doubt, Pepper was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet dog was homeless, living in terrible conditions.
Pepper’s History
It all began 6 weeks before her full recovery. Animal Aid Unlimited received a call from a concerned citizen. The caller, located in Udaipur, India, related the details of a dog lying under a car. Clearly, this puppy is homeless; however, she also suffered from severe mange. Mange is a condition caused by parasitic mites. As a result, this poor animal experienced massive fur loss, along with itchy, irritating scabs all over her body.
It should be noted that despite her obvious pain from her condition, this puppy displayed her trust in an endearing way. As she saw the rescue team, her tail started to wag. Furthermore, she willingly approached the volunteers, craving both the pets and the food offered.
Initially, the team feared her mange was too widespread, and that she would likely die from her condition. Without a doubt, luck was on her side. The rescuers took and her wagging tail to the Animal Aid team shelter.
Treatment Begins
Even malnourished and ill, Pepper trusted her caretakers as treatment began. Everyone kept a close eye on the sweet dog, making sure her regimen included meals and water along with lots of pets.
During the next 4 weeks, Pepper was given medicine for her infected scabs. She also underwent twice-weekly medicated baths to disinfect the rest of her body. Additionally, she received an array of shots for rabies, common puppy diseases and was spayed by her extraordinary team of supporters.
Despite the uncomfortable treatment, this little jewel continued to thank her rescuers with her endless wagging. Her sweet attitude never faltered.
The Next Stage
It is said that time heals all wounds. In the case of Pepper, her transformation occurred in 6 weeks. As a result, she looked like a totally different dog. Not only did her fur grow back, all black and shiny, but her skin restored its healthy texture.
Pepper really turned on the charm as she roamed free around the Animal Aid shelter. She met new friends and showed off her playful personality. She also enjoyed lots of positive attention.
Pepper is ready to find her forever home! Wag on.
