A trip to the beach is fun for everyone, especially for people who own dogs. Dogs love to go running in the soft sand at the beach and they also enjoy swimming. This is why dog owners frequently go to the beach to let their dogs have fun.
A couple named Jim and Marie Zangara decided to take their dogs to the beach to have a fun day. It was a particularly nice day and the dogs were having the best time chasing each other around and going for a swim. However, one of the dogs, named Chunk, had a little too much fun and decided not to return to his family.
Chunk loves swimming and playing fetch. He usually stays close to his family and is well-behaved. However, something happened that had everyone worried. While playing fetch with Jim at the beach, Chunk grabbed the toy from the water. Instead of returning to Jim, Chunk ran towards the marshy area.
Jim and Marie spent hours trying to look for Chunk. Unfortunately, Chunk was nowhere to be found. Jim and Marie were worried sick and turned to social media to ask people for help. As soon as they posted their plea for help on social media, their phones started ringing.
Days after Chunk went missing, Jim and Marie were able to spot Chunk but they weren’t able to catch him. After more than two weeks of searching, two women who were out running finally spotted Chunk near a bridge. One of the women called out to Chunk but Chunk was too afraid and jumped into the water.
The women then asked a nearby fisherman to help on their rescue mission. Although the fisherman was able to get closer to Chunk, Chunk was still frightened and ended up biting the fisherman and swam away. During the attempted rescue, Chunk’s collar fell off and the fisherman was able to call Chunk’s owners.
The women who were observing everything called 911 to ask for help. The police arrived and they were finally able to get Chunk back on land. Jim and Marie also arrived and Chunk was finally reunited with his family. Here’s a truly remarkable video about Chunk and how he was rescued and reunited with his family thanks to the local community.
