The day he was found, Simon the Shih Tzu didn’t exactly resemble a normal dog. The unfortunate pup weighed 20 pounds, with roughly six and a half of that weight made up of extremely matted hair. A rescue group called The KC Pet Project took in the poor canine and helped him regain his health.
Miracle dog
A kind man was on his way to work when he saw poor Simon. He had no idea exactly what sort of animal Simon was, but he felt that the poor thing needed care. Since the stray dog was unable to walk, the man phoned the KC Pet Project.
The organization enthusiastically agreed to assist the distressed animal. They quickly determined Simon was an eleven-year-old Shih Tzu and immediately set to work on saving his life. The team was able to remove approximately six pounds of matted hair off his body in two hours.
Simon’s skin was quite dry, and he needed some dental work, but he’s in great shape. The pup is happier now that the nasty hairs were gone. In the best way, he looked like an entirely different pup.
Second chance
Simon’s neutering lead the group to believe he formerly had a family, but he lacked a microchip. The dog might’ve run away from his home, or gotten abandoned. In any event, this is a horrible case of maltreatment, and the KC Pet Project is looking for any information regarding his past.
Meanwhile, the rescue also received a lot of interest in Simon’s adoption. He still requires a great deal of medical treatment, but the dog slowly shows his energetic and clingy side to the people surrounding him.
It was only a matter of time before the senior dog fully recovers. Until then, the rescue is happy to take care of Simon and makes sure he’s in a loving and caring environment.
