Reddit is a great place for dog lovers to share their adoption stories.
Graham Whatmoughm, also known as “/u/WhereTheHighwayEnds” on Reddit, recently shared an incredible story on the subreddit “BeforeNAfterAdoption.” He told the story of his beautiful dog Willow and how he first met her while she starved in the woods with two broken legs. Graham saved Willow’s life and helped her fully recover and she’s now an active and playful dog.
Graham saves Willow’s life
Graham quit his job four years ago to pursue his dream of being a freelance videographer and photographer. He surely spends a lot of time exploring the wild outdoors and he met Willow while he was on one of his hikes. Graham usually took a specific path through the woods, but he decided to take a different trail on a whim that day. He then noticed something strange.
Graham saw a white animal laying behind a fallen tree. Inching closer, he noticed that it was a dog. Willow didn’t like Graham at first, but he won her trust when he fed her some berries and gave her some water. When he tried to get Willow to walk, Graham noticed that something was wrong with her hind legs.
Willow recovers from her injuries
Graham took Willow to the vet and that’s where he learned that both of Willow’s legs were broken. These legs also started to heal improperly. The vet told Graham that Willow needs to either have an amputation or risky and expensive surgery. Graham didn’t give up on Willow, so he shared her story on social media.
People who heard about Willow’s story started to donate to help pay for her surgery. After he raised the money, Graham then helped Willow recover and regain full use of her hind legs. He stretched Willow’s legs every day and took her out on walks. Eventually, Graham’s efforts paid off and now Willow is a happy and active dog that joins Graham on his hikes.
