Puppy Lying in the Road
Scarlett Adler, a foster mom with Mission Pawsible, spotted and rescued Sophie in Bali, Indonesia. She was on vacation when she saw the dog lying in the middle of the road. She thought the poor animal was already dead so she got off her car and checked.
When Scarlett touched Sophie’s paws, the dog moved. It was a relief to know the pup was alive, but it wasn’t so good either. It was so skinny and weak, and couldn’t even stand properly on its own.
Home to New York
With the help of the right people and organization, Scarlett managed to get Sophie out of Bali. Together, they flew to New York. This signaled the start of a very long journey to recovery.
Scarlett volunteered to take care of Sophie. She learned that rescue workers offered Sophie’s previous owner vet care and medicines at no cost. But sadly, it was never given to the dog.
Road to Recovery
Sophie received medical care and attention the moment she arrived in the states. The vets revealed she had a blood parasite that affected her sight and hearing. She was in the worst state.
For the first few days, Sophie did not react to anything around her. But Scarlett sensed that she felt a little more relaxed every time she touched her. It took a long time, but once she perked up, everyone around her knew she was ready to fight.
With good food, proper care, the right medication, and lots of love and attention, Sophie began to show significant improvements. Her personality really came out and she started playing with other dogs a lot. She finally learned how fun it is to be a dog.
Sophie worked so hard and she successfully defied all odds. The dying Bali dog is now a happy pup who gets to live another day. And she surely wants nothing more than to share her second chance with a loving forever family.
