Spencer is a Doberman that was found on the side of a highway in South Carolina. He was in such a horrendous condition after he got hit by a car and his back was broken. It was likely that he was scavenging road kill when a high-speed vehicle came.
Aside from that, he had various injuries and health conditions that signified that he was abused.
The vets found out that his ears were cropped by someone and did a poor job at it. He also had wounds and gashes on his head and legs that needed to be closed with stitches. it seemed to the rescuers that Spencer was either abandoned or he ran away from home because of the abuse he got.
But his worst injury was his severed spine.
Thankfully, though, because he was still young, the vets said that there was a good chance that he could walk again.
Surgery
Spencer needed surgery and fortunately for him, several nonprofit organizations and animal specialty centers worked together to help him get better. Many of these kind strangers said that the dog had a very strong will to live, and it inspired them to give help.
Despite all the injuries he had and the abuse that he had to endure, Spencer was very affectionate and gentle towards humans. He loves to give kisses and wag his tail whenever he is around people.
Road to recovery
The first thing his rescuers did was fix his broken spine. The dog underwent back surgery, and he recovered in record time. He then underwent rehabilitation. He was transferred to New York where he worked with a therapist every day.
His progress was fast and was soon walking on his own. Spencer’s wounds were also healing.
The transformed pooch loves playing with his toys and with the people around him. He was then put up for adoption. It didn’t take long for Spencer to find his forever family.
He now lives happily with two new dog siblings and is still continuing therapy. More importantly, he is very happy and loved.
