People have creative ways of overcoming adversity or bending the rules to avoid penalties. In this case, outwitting a regulation regarding animals riding on the subway is today’s issue.
Regulation
The NYC regulation was quite clear. “No person may bring any animal on or into any conveyance or facility unless enclosed in a container.” A straightforward statement.
Nevertheless, the subway rules left room for human imagination to take over. Thinking out of the box is nothing new.
Nowhere in the regulation is the size of the animal or form of the carrier specified. As a result, people who wanted to avoid a fine for not following the code were complying in the strictest sense.
Creative Compliance
People will go to great lengths to get the results they want. For example, a CBS news producer captured this phone of a guy carrying his husky on the subway train.
You can chuckle at the cavalier pose of the guy. In his mind, he is not breaking any of the rules in place for public transportation use. In fact, he is keeping his dog contained and not bothering a soul.
This sample of photos captured by different people illustrates people’s need to have their dogs travel with them. They also seem to show that other travelers are not bothered with the puppies on board the trains. It is irresistible.
The photos capture creative dog owners who want their dogs with them. This little lady with the large dog is a genius, putting fido in a carrier and avoiding back strain.
It certainly looks like these folks are aware of the regulation.
Many of these photos make the efforts seem no different than carrying a bag of books or their portable office.
These days, more people like to travel with their dogs. The reasons could be therapeutic, no dog sitter, or they love their dogs. All are great choices.
Undoubtedly the owners and pups are enjoying the extra time together. If dogs are contained, there is no reason to complain. Everyone looks relaxed in each of the pictures; dogs included!
