Seasoned Puppy Foster Mom
The rescue team reached out to Niko about a recent rescue pooch. In particular, this dog was terrified of people. As a result, she had the tendency to bite anyone trying to touch her. The rescuer wanted to know if Niko was willing to foster the dog, despite her biting tendencies.
Niko, an experienced foster mom, agreed. After seeing the feisty pooch, she named her Heather. Niko took Heather from the rescue center and brought her home. Once they arrive, it was challenging for Niko to get Heather out of the crate. Thankfully, Niko’s experience suggested she simply wait. Heather was unresponsive to pressure.
After a couple of kind words, Niko finally convinced Heather to get out of her crate. When Heather was free, Niko realized the puppy needed to go to the bathroom. To go for a walk, she would have to get a harness on Heather. As a result, Heather attempted to bite Niko several times.
Walking About
Once the harness was on, Niko took Heather for a walk around the block. Niko noticed that the puppy was more at ease and comfortable on a leash. Checking out all the neat stinks as they walked the new territory.
In fact, the walk really helped Heather open up. As a result, Heather began to let her guard down. She even allowed Niko to pet her.
In general, Heather’s attitude has wholly changed. She is very comfortable around Niko. Also, the pup stopped trying to bite everyone who came near. A few weeks after the foster placement, Heather’s rescuer reached out because someone was looking for a dog.
Forever Home
Nico recommended Heather to the rescuer. The woman who adopted Heather to her forever home was delighted. When the new owner learned how comfortable Heather was in her crate, she bought her a bed with a cover on top. This way, Heather could feel secure and safe without actually being caged. Her new owner enjoys taking Heather for walks.
Heather is pleased with her life, all thanks to Niko’s experience, patience, and love.
