Firefighter Heroes
Not all heroes wear capes; some wear firefighter gear. These firefighters went viral on social media after showing their exceptional teamwork during a rescue mission. It was after two Category 4 hurricanes made landfall in less than two weeks in Honduras.
When Hurricane Eta made landfall on November 3, the residents received heavy rainfall and damaging winds. Also, on November 16, another hurricane known as Lota followed. Lota brought an additional 10 to 30 inches of rain. As a result, people left their homes. The temporary evacuation efforts were rushed.
However, humans weren’t the only ones affected by the raging storms. Animals were impacted as well. Case in point, these two Dachshunds were stranded due to the rapid floodwaters. Fortunately, a rescue team from The Heroic and Benevolent Fire Department located and brought them to safety.
Stranded Puppies
In the video, one firefighter tied a rope around his waist as his teammate held the other end. Aware of the danger in the rushing waters, he is cautious in crossing. Thankfully, he reached both dogs and carry them to safety.
These two Dachshunds weren’t the only ones saved by the firefighters. Subsequently, other lucky pups were rescued from the ravaging waters. Many of the videos were uploaded on Twitter. Indeed, one of the posts featured a large dog being carried through the flooded street. Nevertheless, these firefighters continued to rescue those poor animals left behind in the wake of the hurricanes.
As a result, the owners of the rescued dogs were very grateful for these fantastic firefighters. If it weren’t for these men, these pups and many others would have been lost in the intense hurricanes.
This teamwork is truly a sight to behold. Viewers of these incredible videos replied with admiration for the heroic efforts. Undoubtedly, through partnership, great things are possible.
