Ever since Nellie was a pup, she suffered one heartbreak after the other. She started her life as a stray but was fortunate enough to be rescued from the streets. But it seemed though that her problems were just about to begin.
Just when things started to look up, she came across one obstacle after another. She was transferred to different shelters and was given care by multiple rescue groups for several years. It just seems that she couldn’t find a permanent place to become a part of.
All these movements made her a cautious dog. Until she found the right foster mom for her.
A strong bond
Nellie was already five years old when a kind woman named Jane Taylor took a chance on her. She learned about the dog’s past and felt so sorry for her. Especially when she saw the scars on the dog’s body. She was abused by someone and has never felt happiness in her life.
Jane welcomed the scared pit bull in her home and showered her with love and attention. Nellie appreciated the loving home that she was in and started to come out of her shell. The dog and her new foster mom quickly developed a strong bond with each other.
For the first time in her life, she learned what it meant to be loved. And the grateful pooch was more than willing to do anything for the woman who was kind to her.
A snake attack
One day, Jane, along with another friend of hers, took Nellie out for a hike near Enchanted Rock in Texas. While the happy hikers were on their way back to the parking lot, the trio decided to take a shortcut. Then they heard the horrifyingly distinct sound of a rattlesnake.
They looked around but couldn’t see where the snake was. Then Nellie suddenly jumped forward and started confronting the venomous serpent. It didn’t take long for the wild creature to get the upper hand. It bit the dog repeatedly on the face.
Jane’s friend was able to throw her jacket at the snake at that precise moment. They then grabbed the dog and rushed to their vehicle. By the time they got inside, the dog’s eyes were shut, and her mouth was hanging open. They had to get to a vet right away.
Thankfully, they got the pooch treated immediately and she recovered quickly. Nellie is now more than ready to find her forever family.
