For any pet owner, the thought of knowing your pet is lost is probably the worst nightmare you can ever have. That’s why we should take precautionary measures ahead of time so our dogs won’t get lost.
But unfortunately, even if we make them wear a collar that’s microchipped with a GPS tracker, they can still get lost. This is exactly what happened to Aisha Nieves back in May 2019. A driver crashed into her gate which left a hole for her dog to escape through.
On the day that Aisha’s dog, Kovu, escaped, she knew something was wrong before she even realized he was gone. It was because he didn’t meet her at the door when she got home one night.
Aisha was heartbroken and devastated. She did everything that she could to find her beloved Kovu, but what she didn’t know was that her dog had been brought to the local humane society. Four months later, Kovu was adopted by another family before Aisha had the chance to check in with the humane society again to see if they had him.
Kovu was in good hands with his new family but they had to return him to the humane society because they got evicted. Then when Aisha was randomly looking through the society’s adoptable dogs, she came across a picture of Kovu. She knew immediately it was her dog because of the scar over his right eye.
In no time, she requested to see Kovu. A first, she was worried that Kovu wouldn’t remember her anymore. But the second the pooch saw her, he couldn’t contain his excitement! He surely remembers his beloved owner even if they were apart for two years.
As seen in the video, Kovu jumps for joy and showers Aisha with lots of kisses and hugs. And Aisha couldn’t help but hug Kovu in return. It’s one of the most precious reunions you’ll ever see!
